First: that color is AMAZING on you!! Second: are the shoes comfortable? Because I love how they look but, to me, function trumps style (which is why I've worn Converse sneakers for the past 20 years : /

i have heard a good way to weed out what you don't wear is to hang every hanger backwards. when you wear it you can keep it hanging the right ...normal...way. at the end of season/year if it is hanging backwards it is donate time.

Man, I wish I lived closer to you and could organize it for you. I love organizing closets. I do my Mom's periodically. Since your old camp buddie still lives in Hawaii, we don't have seasons so I don't have to worry about that (yet). But what I do is sort by type of clothing: i.e. work shirts, work pants, tanks, t-shirts, shorts, dressy dresses, non-dressy dresses etc, then a bit by color. I just lost a ton of weight and just gave a way a ton of stuff. I can actually see into my closet right now. It feels so great to get rid of stuff that is too big. All I'm going to keep of my big stuff is a pair of shorts and 1 pair of jeans that I wore at my heaviest.

I divide by spring/summer and fall/winter. Each season, I have two totes that go at the top of the closet with the past season stuff i want to keep. Then with the current/upcoming season, i go through and throw out anything I know will not fit and stow any pieces that I can't part with even if they don't fit (as I say, yes damn it I will fit into that size 8 pencil skirt that is so awesome again!). I know I'm not supposed to keep them but they are few and far between and 'classic' pieces that don't go out of style. Then Since I have small closets, I put jackets and blouses in one closet, dresses and skirts in another. In dresser drawers I have tshirts, pjs and shorts that I wear year round. If I have time, I do things by color. I have scarves on hangers. It may not be a perfect system but has worked for me thus far. When I take things off a hanger in the morning to get dressed, the hangers go in a cute ikea basket and then down to the laundry room at the end of the week so they aren't taking up space in the closet.
I've done this with other friends - we go in and help each other clean out our closets since sometimes it takes a third party who isn't tied to it to get rid of it :)

I sort by short sleeve (work), short sleeve (casual), long sleeve (work), long sleeve (casual), skirts, pants, jackets. Dresses are on my inside door hanger. When I'm feeling really ambitious I sort by color. I do this about once every couple months and then I mess it all up again and I proclaim loudly, "I have nothing to wear!". So basically what I'm saying is that I'm neurotic with no stamina for routine. :P

Perpetual problem around here, too. I find the biggest help is ditching the stuff you won't wear - either ever (toss or donate), or for the season (off to the basement), or only for special occasions (spare room closet). My closet is desperately in need of a purge, tho, so do as I say, not as I do :).

Hi there!

I think you look fabulous in these dresses; you are rocking your size. :) I'm also a size 24 and I want these two Webster dresses in white and the blue:
http://www.target.com/p/The-Webster-at-Target-Womens-Plus-Size-Sleeveless-Cross-Back-Knit-Dress-White/-/A-13956253

I plan to add a jean jacket or a cardigan to cover my arms...

I'm a size 24, would you recommend a 4?

Thank you for your blog; I love it!

Jillian :)

I actually like this, it just lacks shape, any way of utilizing a belt under the bustline? That would make it worth keeping.

Thanks for keeping me up to date. I was completely unaware that Target is finally allowing plus sizes in one of their designer collections. I'm disappointed the collection is so damn small, though.

I like the dresses and the prints, which have a vintage-inspired feel to me. Unfortunately, I'm one of the few fat women out there who's not a dress wearer. That's not to say I don't own dresses and don't wear them, but they're not part of my daily wardrobe as they are for other plus size women. Dresses are "special occasion-wear only" for me. Point being, I'd love to have seen a couple of tops with the same prints as the dresses in the collection.

The flats are cute, but nothing special. I have similar flats already in my closet. And I'm not a fan of ginormous wedge sandals with big ties. So in a nutshell, I'm glad Target is finally starting to be inclusive of more sizes in their designer collections, but their first try falls a little flat for me.

Funny, I think the lengths are perfect on you! I like the first one more than the second one too. I ordered the shoes and really like them. Going to order the pink cardigan and blue dress this weekend.

Maybe its the kind of thing you need to see in person - But I quite like the second dress on you! I agree with the above commenter - a wide black belt and i think you'd be in business! A regular V neck might be more flattering than the rounded one, but in my opinion i think you look slimmer/longer in the second dress! Which of course you look lovely in both... but just my 2 cents that you didnt ask for :)

I actually ordered the short sleeve tie front dress in melon/green/cream. At first I wasn't sure about the pattern but I ended up loving it. Was planning on wearing this dress to a wedding this summer. However...I put this dress on the the sleeve openings were so small that my arms wouldn't go completely through the sleeves. I know that I have big arms but come on!! I realized that there was a button on each sleeve so I unbuttoned them and tried again. No luck. I was so disappointed. The whole bottom half was a total win. I thought it was a perfect length, the dress was well made and lined. I can't comment on the chest area because since the arms weren't fully in the sleeves, it caused the front to gape open. I couldn't tell whether it would gape if he sleeves had fit. Of course, I returned this...I loved the quality and price but the sleeves just didn't work. Very disappointed!!

I think the second dress looks absolutely adorable on you. With a black belt at your waist it'd be a good everyday dress. Hmm.

I like the first one but generally don't wear dresses -- and if I did, it's too short for my comfort range. I might hem it and turn it into a shirt :)

I just bought this dress! Ideeli had a Res Label sale on Sunday so I bit the bullet! I hope I look half as good in it as you do! (Especially since I can't return it! LOL)
