Updated: Here are some more eloquii reviews posted after this initial one.
I placed my first eloquii by The Limited order on launch day, Tuesday. It was on my doorstep by Thursday, and I was excited to see how the highly-anticipated line would work out.
Unlike other stores, I ended up ordering what I liked, verus how I thought the particular brand would fit. For example, if I shop at Old Navy, I know there are certain dresses and sweaters that I should size down in. If they have any sort of chiffon, I know I should size up. These intuitions have been formed by dozens of purchases. Since this was my first eloquii order, I was shopping blind.
I’m such a nerd, I photographed the unboxing:
These were my purchases:
- Signature 3/4 sleeve wrap dress: I LOVE the cobalt color. I honestly didn’t think I’d have trouble fitting in this considering I own many wrap dresses. Unfortunately, it was way too small in the waist and hips. They made me look like I was wrapped in sausage casing. It made me really bummed. The fabric was thicker than I expected, and I think it would wear well. Going back.
- Piped Tweed Skirt: I wanted this to work so badly. I love tweed, and love a-line skirts, but can never find any that fit properly. This was no exception. I ordered a 24, which according to measurements should have fit. I wear a 24 in Calvin Klein, Svoboda, Kiyonna, Lane Bryant, Michael Kors, etc. This was at least 3 inches too small in the waist. Like, not even remotely close. Going back after I stop throwing a hissy fit.
- Chiffon Ruffle Front Shirt: I thought this was a good all-year shirt for work. Wear by itself, with a cardigan, or with a blazer. The purple was pretty, and hot damn it fit. Photo below. Loved the slight stretch and the fact that the buttons didn’t gape open. It got wrinkled a little as I wore it, but not worse than any other button-down shirt. Keeper.
- Pleated Sleeve Cowl Sweater: You all know I have my camel and black obsession- I think it’s one of the classiest combos ever. I got this in camel to wear with black trousers to work. It was thin fabric, so I wore a cami underneath, but it was a total no-go. It was really short in the torso on me. Granted, I have a long torso, but it was a belly shirt. Blech. Going back.
- Super Opaque Tights: After my bad luck with most things so far, I didn’t even open these. The size chart says the highest end on the weight is 275 pounds. I may have lost 113 pounds, but I’m not there yet. I kept them in the package for easy return.
Have you tried eloquii yet? Please share your experiences!

This week I ordered the Gold Party Dress: http://www.eloquii.com/Gold-Party-Dress/23267268,default,pd.html?start=1&cgid=eloquii_shop-the-collection_dresses
I was afraid to order anything from eloquii since they use smaller models, but this dress looked amazing on Gabi Gregg so I thought I would take a chance. It has not arrived yet and I ordered according to the size chart, but now I’m a little nervous about how it will fit since yours is not the the only story I have heard about inconsistent sizing. Fingers crossed…
Please let me know how it fits, Myla. I haven’t heard from anyone else about sizing yet, so I didn’t know if I was just a freak who has been stuffing into too-small of clothes, or if they were all running small. They weren’t just a little small. They were MAJOR small.
I hate having to return things that I am excited about wearing, so I feel your pain. It sounds like they run a bit smaller than other plus-sized brands. At least they have free returns, right? That purple top looks great on you and it’s ideal with those plum shoes!
YES. Free returns make it better.
I swear 24 is the new 8. I am down 77 lbs now and finally in a 26. (Lane Bryant) I was sad to see the size 24 cut-off. I am in love with the “Lafayette/RNS” fabric from Lane Bryant. They are the only work pants that work for me and hide what I want hidden. (If anyone knows a good sub for these pants from somewhere else, please let me know!)
I really want to know if the Eloquii “exact stretch” material is anything like the Lane Bryant RNS fabric. (Since LB has decided that if we like this pant we should all wear black pants every day – though they did finally put out a gray color in the “flared leg” RNS pant … )
Unfortunately, looks like it may be another 6 months +, if things go well with my progress before I can try out this or most high fashion plus lines. Still glad to see more retailers at least pay some attention to this market …
This week I also ordered the 3/4 wrap dress is cobolt…I hope it works out its so perfect for work, going out, basically anything!
I also ordered the Lace One Shouldered dress because it is absolutely gorge!!!!!
And the Classic Fit Exact Fit Bootcut pant in Black…I have a terrible time finding pants so lets hope these work!
I can’t wait to try these out!!!! Thank you so much for sharing about them. I had no idea about the line even opening!
Hi Emmie,
Thanks for sharing this new line a few weeks ago. I would have never know about it otherwise (which may have been a good thing). I wanted to share my sizing experience with eloquii. I bought 2 similar tops in the same size that are noted as having relaxed fit. http://www.eloquii.com/Cowl-Drape-Top/23868709,default,pd.html?start=20&cgid=eloquii_shop-the-collection_tops-shirts
and http://www.eloquii.com/Cowl-Drape-Top/23865709,default,pd.html?start=23&cgid=eloquii_shop-the-collection_tops-shirts
One fit perfectly and the other I looked like a sausage in it. Consistency issue! I bought another top which fit well. So, 2 out of 3 fit the way I expected. Please keep sharing your finds with us.
That purple shirt is so cute! It makes your waist look narrow.
Argh, I have an order coming this week and now I’m pretty sure I ordered too small. I got one of the drapey cardigans in an 18/20, because that’s the size I buy cardis at Lane Bryant. At least I only ordered one thing, because I wanted to see how small it ran. SO if it’s tiny I’ll have to just make other orders the 22/24.
Online shopping is really the worst–why wouldn’t Eloquii want to open up boutiques to compete for LB’s mall business? LB is the only store in most malls right now for plus size, it shocks me they don’t have competition. I long to be able to try things on in the store in a place other than Macy’s or LB. Sigh.
I’m actually really surprised at the comments stating that things have been too small. I had the exact opposite experience. I ordered 18/20, since that’s exactly what my measurements showed I’d be in the charts, and both sweaters I ordered were too big.
I did love the material they were made of, though. Very nice quality. Overall, I like their styles better than LB. I just wish they had boutiques. But I’m sure the current economy has a lot to do with that. The free shipping & returns are a nice touch, though. And for me, I prefer trying things on at home anyway, since I’m a wheelchair user, so it doesn’t really matter to me as much.
Horrible HOrrible HOrrible customer service. I sent something for an exchange and after waiting almost 3 weeks received an email that they were out of stock of the item despite it showing in stock online. I called the customer servi ce and they gave some excuse about warehouse systems. the following day i had 3 seperate charges from them despite not ordering anything. If they really want to compete in this market they need to decrease their turnaround time for exchanges and increase their customer service. At least with Lane Bryant i can return my online stuff in store and they have never lied to me about something not being in stock. Poor form Eloquii.
Hi Kate, we’d love to follow up with you on your experience. Apologies for the inconvinence, could you please email Ava at ava@eloquii.com with your name, number and order number? Thank you and Happy Holidays!
They must have tightened things up since you wrote, then. I tweeted a question and had an answer literally within a few hours. I ordered a few things & had to make a return, and my return was processed and credited in less than a week — and during Christmas week, no less. Great customer service in my case. I can’t wait to shop there again!
Hi Shari, we’re so glad you had a pleasant experience with eloquii! We try to tell all our customers that if they have any questions or concerns to tweet at us or post on our Facebook page- we’re pretty responsive!
We believe in providing the best shopping experience to our customers! Thank you again for your support.
I have been in love with the eloquii clothing line, but their customer service and “wannabe” exchange program is less than stellar. I have had numerous accounts of exchange requests never fulfilled (only after speaking with 10 different customer service representatives was I finally informed that they don’t actually have the systems in place to manage exchanges despite the invoice including clear directions on how to exchange). Additionally, once I finally placed a new order for the items I wanted exchanged in the first place, the customer service representatives can’t/don’t/won’t speak to the “warehouse” and nobody knows when items will be sent back out. I have 1 item that has been in the “picking state” since early November! Considering the amount of money I’ve spent with them and the customer-friendly experience I’ve had with other plus-size online shopping, I am going to stop shopping with eloquii. I just get more frustrated with every purchase that they don’t get right.
Hi Angel- we’d love to follow up with you… apologies for the inconvenience you have experienced. Could you please email Ava at ava@eloquii.com with your name, number and order number? Thank you and Happy New Year!
Hi everyone- I am pleased to report that eloquii customer service representatives have resolved all of my outstanding order issues. Once I got a response from the right people, all things worked out. I am back to shopping gleefully on the new Spring line. Very impressed by the pink/coral tone jewelry and popover blouses- I have them in all 3 patterns! They are having a great sale right now on coats, so you may want to stock up for next Winter!

I was excited to hear about Eloquii as I am an avid Lane Bryant shopper and was excited about having other fashion styling options for plus sizes.
I ordered several items and with the exception of a scarf and a jewelry item, returned the balance. I almost returned the scarf as the print had some white streaks and screen defects, but figured it wouldnt show much if I wore it bunched around my neck. The garments though- I was shocked at how ill-fitting they were… and the fits were ALL inconsistent. I guess I am just used to having everything I buy from LB fit me in the size Im used to ordering. I kept one dress because it was a final sale and you cant return those even if they dont fit. The other 2 dresses and the top I tried to return- but it was sent back to me. Apparently, I missed the return window. OK- my bad. But then, they also accused me of having WORN the garment. Now, that REALLY upset me. The tags were still on the garment and the darn things didnt fit me, so how or why would I wear them??? I buy a lot of garments online and I, for the most part, do not return them unless they truly look bad on me or was not represented properly on its sites- I cannot tell you how upset that made me.
